Ways to Contribute to the Preservation of Tikip Falls' Beauty (Part 3)

Writer: Krister Jieo FelicianoKrister Jieo Feliciano

- Do not urinate everywhere. When urine nutrients enter the watershed, they become pollutants. The nutrients in urine frequently travel through the Tikip Falls and end up in rivers, lakes, and bays. Excess nutrients (especially nitrogen and phosphorus) can generate dangerous algal blooms once they reach the aquatic environment (HABs). Aquatic ecosystems are harmed by HABs. When algae dies, microorganisms breakdown it, de-oxygenating the water in the process.
